Fungo
FUNGO005 | 2017-11-24
Sortido Fino 1 arised from the wish to launch a muscular musical record, in a compilation format, that would allow to bring artists which Fungo has included in some nights curated by the collective,
together with emergent projects which have called for its attention.
The artwork is an illustration by Teresa Fernandes, also known as Wasp.

Ivo Santos is VelgeNaturlig, a project with an idiosyncratic sound, due to the way it articulates the elements present in its analogical poems, in the sound that is produced and in its universal surrounding energy.
"Fehu" is a simple piece, created exclusively for this compilation, which only uses modulation of sine waves embedded in strings' sounds.

Pedro Centeno, name behind F nt sm, explores the possibilities founded in electronic mechanisms of obsolete equipment. Error and chance are components of his musical creation.
"Unpopular Drums" was created from popular music samples (Giacometti and Lopes-Graça), acoustically manipulated and played out of sync in a 4-track tape recorder.

João Quintela is Gagat, a project inspired by industrial culture, techno, noise, acid house and ambient. He likes to create is own sounds, whether with Ableton or with a modular eurorack synthesizer.
After a 9-to-5 working day, "An Abyss of Bliss" resulted from a one-take improvisation with synthesizers, reflecting Gagat's inherent frustration arising from its incompatibility with reality.

Pedro Niza chose the name Kinbotte for his musical project, based on the name of an alien character from The X-Files TV series.
"Whale In The Waves" is one of the first tracks he produced. It is inspired by the mystery that the songs of whales evoke him.

M-Spirits is a project of Maks Dade and Andrea Mnrd, the two exiled in Lisbon where they met during a period of global turbulence.
"Caga Nisso" (Shit On It) was born from an instant in an improvising week. It is a dirty and merciless highway, where stopping is impossible.

Old Manual is a musically exploratory and diversified project by Manuel Robim, multimedia artist and electronic music producer who is resident in London.
It is intended that "Vegetarian Nightclub" works as an abstract revival of late 90s dirty DnB, where the beats don't shine, not because they can not, but because they do not want to.

Rose:bud is a new pseudonym of Marco Guerra, which derives from the project Citizen:kane.
"Comer, Cagar, Dormir" (Eating, shitting, sleeping) is an analogy to the simplicity of early life.

Pantera is a project by Pedro Henrique, a revolutionary militant, exiled in Lisbon after being expelled from all guerrillas and ideological movements he's ever been a part of.
"Adeus às Armas" (Farewell to Arms) is a theme against the cynicism of the Trump era. A song without glory or longing, only grief and sorrow.

Random Gods is a project by Timóteo R. de Azevedo. Last year, he got his first edited EP "Genezon.avi" published by Danse Noire (IVVVO, Vaghe Stelle, Aisha Devi, Haf Haf).
With references to the three great abrahamic religions, "Javeo.com" is an articulate, danceable track, with a techno feel but also a middle East influence.

Die Von Brau is a project by Sérgio Faria, who released "Inércia" and "Dedication For Project 01" in 2015. "Inércia pt. 2" came out in 2017.
"Attack and decay", written in February 2016, closes the compilation.
