Another busy year has passed. We're looking back on an incredible journey throughout the past 365 days, looking back on a bunch of new, exciting additions to the Upon. You Records roster, loads of thrilling releases and maybe most importantly to reaching the ten years mark of being in business in 2k17.
We've extensively celebrated this fact with quite a few events set up all over Europe within the past twelve months and now we're about to round this year off with our new compilation 10 Years Upon. You, which split in four parts is about to feature exclusive tracks and brand new material provided by artists from the labels roster, both young guns and long time staples, to look back and set the course for the next year to come.
Starting into Part 1 of this four piece series with His Name Was Nathan by the Bavarian duo named Innellea we're entering well spaced out TechHouse territories, paying homage to the retrofuturist sci-fi-approach of the grand analogue synth masters of electronic musics early days whilst keeping crowds in motion with a distinct, yet stripped down dancefloor drive.
Following up is Upercent with Equilibri Evolutiu in which the Spanish beat master creates a dramatic take on uptempo electronic club music, relying on his keen sense of masterly crafted build ups, dense atmosphere and simple, yet on point main motifs in amalgamation with complex melodic layers and decontextualized Jazz-referencing bits to a massive effect whenever played out over a huge P.A. rig.
Going Vanta we see Eins Tiefer explore more stripped down realms somehow reminiscing of the formerly so-called Intelligent Techno sub genre, building a massive mover atop a stripped down foundation of a clean cut synth line hypnotically morphing, meandering and moving through the stereo field, accompanied by sparse, yet driving percussions, crystalline sonic cascades and a fat, analogue low end section for sophisticated crowds.
Finally Bumppo and OniWax join forces for Octans only to present their unique take on contemporary Techno music which is coming on strong based on a hefty rolling bass foundation, loads of psychedelic one shot effects, traces of white noise and a deep understanding of perception altering spiritualism in combination with a playful approach to twisted, yet intricate melodic arrangements and hefty, growling bass attacks for sonic warfare of a future to come.
