Boom Boom Battle Ax is Vito&Druzzi’s first EP for the new Brooklyn label Earth2Ether; three tracks of maniacally mechanical techno-disco-funk that circumvent belief and challenge expectations.
To make these slightly twisted, back to basics dance floor vibrations, the assiduous duo dug their lonely 808 drum-machine out of the closet, gave it a big hug and attentively asked it:
“808, who do you want to be?”
“808, are their any other instruments you would like to play with today?”
“808, if you where an animal, what animal would you be?”
808 had a lot to say. It’s answers were astounding and yet subtle, sparse and yet full of meaning. The three tracks Vito, Druzzi and their old companion came up with not only rekindled a friendship but reimagined the over use of the 808’s sounds . The result is an EP made with love, the inspiration that comes with reconnection and an optimistic atavism unburdened by outdated morals.
