‘Noir’ strips off a few layers to reveal a shoulder-slinking jack where walloping snares, shuffling hi-hats and a warm undulating bassline suddenly move aside for a breath-taking synth ripple that leads to a subtle but hair-raising build. Total deep theatre with a few twists along the tale.

‘Eight’ hits with every element that ever made house music bump in the first place; mutating bass, a groove that won’t sit still, a dynamic that teases, a short sharp shock of spoken word and a rolling drum sound that taps right back to the original party source.
