Whistleblower is a label founded by three music producing friends; Alan Fitzpatrick (Drumcode/Hotflush), Reset Robot (Truesoul/Cocoon) and Rhymos (Rumors/Murmur).

The label's latest outing is the first release to feature all three of the producers with Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot joining forces under the alias of Customer, and Rhymos joins Deetron on individual remix duty. Alan Fitzpatrick to most needs no introduction as a figurehead of the Techno genre with seminal releases on labels including Drumcode plus Hotfush, and his releases with Reset Robot under the alias of Customer have been top selling tracks on Anja Schneider’s Mobilee Records. Reset Robot is also a solo artist who boasts releases on Cocoon and Truesoul, plus he has also collaborated on original music with Adam Beyer.

First of the two remixes is by Deetron, a Swiss artist who hosts his own radio show on the globally respected Rinse FM, and has a diverse sound that’s seen him do remixes for imprints such as Crosstown Rebels, Aus Music, Defected, Rebirth and his own label Character. Label boss Rhymos has previously featured on Guy Gerber's label Rumors and DJ W!LD's Catwash as he also provides a remix is his trademark style.

“Taxi Dance” has a rumbling bass and stripped back sound that builds with deep synths and crackling vocal stabs. Looped pads shimmer at the back of the mix like a distant candle flickering in the wind to create relentless tension, whilst the lead synth fills the tracks forefront with short but explosive melodic bursts. Delicate but still dancefloor focused, this understated masterpiece is chic and expertly programmed.

“Eros” is ambient and artistic with the metallic melody that’s best described as ethereal chimes. Abstract and thought provoking, this percussion-less instrumental builds with a medley of textures that buzz and drone to contrast with the glimmer of the melody. Working in a production style that’s unexpected from Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot, this track is a must hear for all fans of avant-garde electronica!

“Eros (Deetron Remix Dub)” provides a percussive alternative of the ambient originals, with solid percussion and a club friendly groove. Using the backing synths from the original, Deetron's remix starts poignant and full of emotion until, but uses the original's melody to lift the track and change the mood. With bass swells and tight drum rhythms, this cut of deep and Melodic Techno is intelligent and gripping. Deetron has also done a second version of his remix with less pads and more focus on the percussion.

“Eros (Rhymos Remix)” adds percussion and a rolling bassline which brings a subtle funk to the remix. With small bursts of acid and subtle use of the originals pads to create a deep and mysterious atmosphere, this rework is club friendly but with a laid back vibe. Falling under the House genre but strongly influenced by Techno, this version is deep and stylish.
