The self-confessed “odd couple” of Glaswegian dance music, Illyus & Barrientos are musicians with very contrasting backgrounds but a future that’s looking increasingly well synthesised. After a slew of releases on Suara, Toolroom and Glasgow Underground, the pair now joins the ranks of DFTD with summer stomper ‘Takin’ Over’. The track bursts with Ibiza terrace vibes and will no doubt be commanding the dancefloor at daytime parties throughout the party island and beyond. Vocals from Imaani lift the bouncing bassline with plenty of hands-in-the-air moments and a hook that’s sure to create some memorable moments when it takes over.
