Son Of Sound explores intimacy and toughness in equal measure on this exquisitely crafted EP of three tracks. The sounds of New York have been a constant in Son Of Sound’s creative process ever since 1991 when he first started producing and the influence is evident in the scenery of this release. Real name Henry Maldonado, he was part of house trio House 2 House, keeping Strictly Rhythm in receipt of bangers such as ‘Hypnotize Me’ and ‘I Need Your Love’. The production mechanics have evolved since then, but the Henry Maldonado style remains subtle, although nuanced by years of creating and consuming quality house music.

Opener ‘’Bout Love Again’ mixes New York swing with Mediterranean fret-hammering goodness. ‘Need Each Other’ features lusciously dense instrumentation that unveils new intricacies on every listen and finally ‘Influence Is Bliss’ develops the themes of the first two tracks into a gently hypnotic head-spinner.
