Roxie Webb, one of DeepDownDirty's latest recruits, has already laid out the blueprint in her first EP. Now, it's time for another journey through her diverse set of musical influences. “Closer to You” undercuts its melodic delicacy with a sense of claustrophobia. With its subtly unexpected twists, this tune ends up conjuring up darkness and emotion without ever sacrificing pure dance floor weight. Then there's “No More”, giving us a hall-of-mirrors view of Motown, those soulful cadences presented in a way you haven't quite heard before; with an added touch of dirty funk aggression, this track is irresistible. This producer seems to be hell-bent on carving her own path through drum 'n' bass with no regard for sub-genre conventions. And that's a very exciting prospect.
