Following on from recent releases such as Reggae Roast's 'The Flava' EP, Interrupt & Tenor Youthman's 'We Rule The Dance' LP and Adam Prescott's Warrior LP, Reggae Roast Records come with their latest extended player in the form of a collaboration between 2 of the crews most exciting young talents; Shumba Youth & Leo Samson entitled 'Hotter Than Lava'. Its sure to set dance floors alight this summer! Reggae Roast have established themselves at the forefront of the UK Reggae / Dancehall scene with string of forward thinking productions and this EP epitomises the sound that they have been championing in recent years. With a nod to the 80's and 90's sounds of yesteryear they are simultaneously bringing the music into a new era with modernist approaches to production and appealing to a new younger audience. The lead single 'Check It Out' is a smasher of a riddim, which along withe the entire EP is produced by longtime resident Leo Samson. Shumba Youth's soft vocal cries complimenting the hard dancehall backing track. The riddim with its low sub frequencies and deadly lyrics is sure to set dance mash up any dance floor. As the EP progresses there are new contemporary versions of classic riddims (eg. Tempo Riddim, Ganja Farma Riddim) that bring an air of nostalgia to the release whilst still maintaining a cutting edge sound. Shumba's conscious lyrics, unique style and on point delivery stand him apart from the crowd and he is sure to be a future star of the UK scene. Leo Samson has been putting in the work as one of the key Reggae Roast residents for the past 5 years. His first big release came in the form of a monster remix for Benny Page's 'Champion Sound' which went on to become an underground anthem. All the while he has been releasing remixes for the likes of Nice Up! Records one of the UKs best dancehall labels and Boom Sound Recordings. This is his first official release on the Reggae Roast label. The first of many! Shumba Youth is fast becoming a household name in the UK Reggae scene and one of the key artists in the new wave of talent coming out of the capitol.
