The last release from Flow Vinyl was back in July 2016, but don't let the low profile since then fool you: the label has been busy preparing their next trio of releases, which include two from Oovation and one from Rich Curtis, all to say a great 2017 start. First up is ‘Falter' by Oovation feat. Amber Long and the wait has been more than worth it. ‘Falter' is classic Flow Vinyl material: melodic progressive house, expertly produced with an infectious vocal and enough bite for tougher dancefloors.

Oovation is the production name of Pierre Bonaventura from Saarbrücken in Germany, and he has become one of the hottest young producers on the progressive techno scene. After several strong releases, it's only natural that he brings his sound to Flow Vinyl and that the results are very impressive indeed. ‘Falter' features the vocals of regular collaborator Amber Long, and it's a mesmerizingly beautiful track full of swirling synths and dramatic energy. In true Oovation style, it has a haunting, darker edge too, which is fully complemented by Long's sensuous voice.

First up on the remix is Switchbox – the partnership of Götz Bökler and Nik Bohn from Cologne – who push the percussion of the original to the forefront to create a seriously funked-up slice of deep techno. Brilliantly crafted, their version is an eight-minute epic of ghostly melodies and far-out effects. The second remix comes from Juan Deminicis from Buenos Aires, an established member of the Flow Vinyl crew, who delivers a minimal-style, almost ambient reworking. With its spacey synths and stripped-back vocal, it has the feel of an imaginary soundtrack, and perfectly complements the other two versions to create a package of light and shade to suit all tastes.
