Future funk or classic club?

Mastermind, multi instrumentalist producer Jared Hines melds a variety of timeless influences into his own musical universe with the latest release from his critically acclaimed project A Band Called Flash (ABCF) titled Phantom EP.

Growing up with a Mother and Father who are both eclectic music lovers (and were full fledged Paradise Garage members) couldn’t help but influence his tastes and exposure to experimental electronic sounds emanating from the New York City and New Jersey club scene of the 80’ and 90’s. Jared’s wide array of influences include Garage and Loft classics, 80’s and 90’s house, electro, alternative yacht rock, indie R&B & hip hop, 70’s jazz fusion and beyond.

His ABCF project is a direct reflection of those influences and his fluid musicianship captures the soulful spirt of those times whilst creating his own conceptual lane in the current digital music freeway.

The Phantom EP also debuts Jared’s soulful vocal stylings over 2 of his compositions;
the title track which takes an early house electro vibe and blends slappin’ funky bass lines over freaky guitar squiggles complementing atmospheric space age synths.

The other stand out vocal track included is E.L.L.A., an early 80’s R&B steppers styled jam, supplemented with an instrumental. It's essential Downtempo sensual boogie.

Phantom is his second EP under the ABCF moniker and expands on his acclaimed future funk vision with assistance from guest musicians Andrew Zhang (additional keys on Volans) and Nick D’Angelo (guitar solo on E.L.L.A.)
It follows up on the international acclaim of his first EP Mother Confessor released in 2015.

The new release debuts his own imprint J4J Records
which will serve as a showcase for more ABCF creations and collaborations.
