After four years and 20 releases, Terence :Terry: delivers his second solo EP on his own label, La Vie En Rose. The Paris maestro, who is currently based in Madrid, has been hard at work in the studio to produce this brand new three-tracker entitled ‘Coney Island’ and all three tracks work as a perfect representation of his deep, sultry and hypnotic sound.

‘Zipolite’ gets things off to a typically groovy start, with snappy percussion and a robotic vocal ….. the intro. It’s not long before a mesmerising bassline creeps in and Terence uses numerous effects to create depth and atmosphere. Strange voices lurk in the background and bright pads swirl around the top line. As the track progresses more layers suck you deeper into the abyss.

Up next we have ‘Nugati’, a chilled trip into dreamland. Throughout the track, a high-pitched, twinkling melody creates an air of mystery, while its deadly b-line does a seductive dance with the cutting percussion. This one strikes a great balance between sweetness and raw groove.

Last up, we have the title track ‘Coney Island’, which works around hard-hitting hats and claps. Thick, solid bass rubs up against smooth pads and cosmic bleeps – while hip-hop vocal clips drop in every few bars to add that all-important hook. Like the other two tracks on this EP, ‘Coney Island’ progresses in a subtle and engrossing manner, keeping you hooked all the way until the end.

Terence :Terry: has got the funk no doubt, and this EP is a testament to more than 20 years spent on the road, in the studio and in the club. Wicked vibes.
