Fossil Archive aka Roberto

Since its inception in the Spring of 2015, Roberto's Fossil Archive label has steadily built a high reputation. Delivering quality over quantity the releases have consistently gained support from a who's who of techno DJs, critical acclaim from the music press and a strong fan base.

Roberto himself continues to grow as both a producer to be reckoned with and a touring DJ, who can stir the crowds into a frenzy at clubs like Tresor, Berghain and fabric, so it's no surprise that for the first set of remixes on the label he's been able to turn to two bastions of the scene, Rolando and Sterac (aka Steve Rachmad).

Roberto's 'Perisphinctes Tiziani' was only the third release on Fossil Archive but it was already clear that the label was destined for greatness, gathering Tune of the Month on Mixmag's Techno page, radio plays on BBC Radio 1, Ben Sims' Run It Red show, Dave Clarke's White Noise show (amongst others), not to mention a host of DJ charts and club plays.

Taking one track apiece, Rolando turns his hand to the deep and hypnotic 'Perisphinctes' adding some tough funk that's reminiscent of those hard, tracky Chicago grooves while maintaining a strong modern techno punch. Meanwhile, Steve Rachmad brings his darker and deeper techno alias, Sterac to 'Tiziani'. The original version saw Roberto in a melodious mood with sweeping synth work and pulsating beats. Sterac's remix takes those elements and reworks them into a dappled and stimulating techno assault.

These two classy remixes from two of techno's finest make for a welcome addition to the Fossil Archive catalogue.
