Chimes EP

Dan Ryan

Dan Ryan had his laptop stolen while working in a studio on the South side of Chicago. It happened after months of intense sessions creating these three gems of pure Chicago house that make up the Chimes EP. Fortunately for lovers of house music, we were able to rescue these three tracks, plus get stems to Garrett David and InSOUL just before his laptop's demise.

Relocating to Chicago from the East Coast at age 21, Dan Ryan had already been in music production from a young age when he moved to Chicago to pursue freelance audio engineering. Quickly immersing himself into the Chicago house scene, it wasn't long before he was offered a position as an in-house engineer at Studio 11 downtown and it was there he began to hone his craft. With influences from the DJs and producers surrounding him every day, Ryan forms his own sound with a combination of 909 percussion, warm synth melodies and analog style
processing. However you want to categorize Dan Ryan's music, one thing is certain: it can be appreciated by heads who have listened to house for decades as well as those new to the genre.

Of the Garrett David 'Right Here' remix, Ryan declares it ''one of the most true to Chicago house songs I've heard in recent times. Great shuffling 909 percussion, bouncy rubbery bass, wet Juno chords, a Boo Williams type synth flute lead, it's all there!'

Next, InSOUL slides through with a remix prepared to fill the rafters of your favorite afterhours spot. InSOUL slings plenty of dtown
head noteworthy material here with just the right amount of
feeling, sultry dub stabs and harrowing drums to carry the tune to lofty heights. Full attention was paid to the groove on this one, and we're all feeling the aftereffects most definitely.

Soundbed's rework uses a bootleg approach as it rips the vocal declaration from 'Paradox' and builds it into an entirely new cut. This expansive rework branches off Ryan's original to bang up
the dance floor.

From the infectious refrain 'Can you feel it?' on 'Paradox' to the dreamlike pulse of 'Right Here' and the bold, ambitious rhythms of 'Resolute', Ryan's versatile Chimes EP is sure to be heard
in warmup sessions and on peak hour dancefloors for years to come!
