ZDS, Doorly

This And That
TNT017 | 2016-02-22
David Squillace’s This And That hits 2016 all beats blazing with the return of old friend and longstanding UK house heavyweight ZDS. Recruiting the ever-skillish charms of fellow British doyen Doorly, it’s another timeless double-track tech attack everyone’s going to want a piece of.

First up; ‘Give It To Me’. Loaded with a classic house vocal sample revisioned for the future, the crunchy juggernaut kicks hit hard from the off before a grainy bass riff makes its presence known. While its texture and weight complement the vocal element, nothing can compare us for the secondary bassline that fires from nowhere... And disappears just as quickly.

‘The Vibe’ takes a left at the tech crossroads: a deep undulating bassline underpins a heads-down groove while a sterling spoken word sample from The Wailer’s Elan Atias splashes the breezy backdrop with rich human soul before a classic acid house vocal ushers in the second half by way of hurricane build up. Fans of Marshall Jefferson’s ‘Mushrooms’ will identify the timeless experience ZDS and Doorly were gunning for on this one...

Ageless dynamism, lean elements, full focus squared plainly on the groove and just the right amount of authentic grit: This And That was made for beats like these. Let us know what you think.
