Dolphin Boy

Rebirth
REB044 | 2010-05-31
Rebirth signs from TummyTouch the fantastic ‘Don’t Stop’ by Dolphin Boy, for a re-release in 2010 ! The song was included in Dolphin Boy’s ‘Gateaux Youth’ album, originally released in 2003 by TummyTouch, home to the likes of Groove Armada, Tutto Matto, Crazy Girl and Turner Cody. Creating his own seductively catchy downtempo sounds DJ Andy Levy, aka Dolphin Boy, has carved out a unique niche in Scottish music. A fixture of Edinburgh’s famously eclectic music scene for well over a decade, he’s as likely to be found playing on remote Hebridean islands as he is in hip city clubs, between times continually cooking up new tunes in his home studio. The album is a layered blend of slinky grooves, potent melodies, quirkily sourced samples and custom-recorded vocals won glowing reviews in the clubland press. Dazed & Confused called it “one of Tummy Touch’s most promising LPs in years,” and it was hailed by D Record as “intelligent and lovingly crafted. . . a fine debut.” DJ magazine praised “the kind of edge so often lacking in the downtempo genre”, while properlychilled.com declared: “In a word, classic.” ‘Don’t Stop’ is a classic piece of downtempo work already sought after by collectors and afficionados. It features the wonderful vocals from Jackie Joyce aka Helicopter Girl. The result is a blissfully harmonious marriage of Celtic tradition and contemporary clubland, seamlessly uniting folk music’s melodic and rhythmic vibrancy with sharp yet subtle grooves and atmospheric textures, to create an inventive and sensual mood. The package includes the beautiful mixes from the four Stuttgart DJs and producers of Dublex Inc (also known now as Space Ranger), alongside brand new remixes.
Ashley Beedle loved the Original and decided to re-edit and extend it following the inspiration of his new Mavis project alongside the musical partner Darren Morris.
Gothenburg based producer Andreas Saag, formerly known as Stateless and Swell Session, reworks the song giving us a powerfull and anthemic dancefloor bomb with strong chord stabs, moody atmosphere, big breakdowns and build-ups ! Following their releases on the acclaimed Wolf + Lamb label, Boston's finest Soul Clap produce a surprising and refreshing remix using part of the vocals and creating a smooth and seductive sound !
