Based in LA - Halocyan are a cohort who represent the originary technicity of music. This originary technicity is a concept rooted in the Greek “techne” - craft, or art, as distinguished from science. But more precisely, originary technicity indicates the prior conditions for technology’s shift toward objective science. We are experiencing digital music’s originating gestures, and this was made possible only by the explosion of modern logic. Inside this logic, is hidden a human capacity for “technical" relatedness to existence itself. Through a variety of deeply impassioned projects, each of which embodies this technical relatedness in its own way, Halocyan outlines computer music’s many future possibilities, while remaining actively mindful of its one and only history. Having released material from such luminaries as Dosem, Paul Woodford, Oliver Ho, Extrawelt, and Joey Beltram - Halocyan continues to assert its influence with their next record: a 2-part EP from Apollo and R&S affiliate Dave Angel.
Founder of Rotation Records and originally hailing from Chelsea, Angel is a Techno emissary whose intelligent, Funk-licked productions have propelled him through a long and illustrious career through which he has consistently branded his own stamp on Electronic Music whilst also remaining highly relevant to modern listeners. It’s this that lends him perfectly to a record with Halocyan who do what they do best in presenting his ‘Incoming’ EP: a sincerely-rooted collection that comes backed up by label favourite Hackman on remix duties.
