DJ Sabo's Sol Seletas imprint returns for the third volume in his "Moombah Fiesta" series - an overview of the diverse sounds contained inside the Afro-Latin Carribbean inspired midtempo music they call Moombahton. Volume 3 also highlights the genre's massive expansion with artist contributions from LA, Miami, San Francisco and Greece.
Things kick off with Sabo's "Havana Dub", a secret weapon for well over a year finally unleashed to the public. The tune, inspired by Bill Laswell's classic "Havana Moods" album features dubbed out Cuban samples and dirty percussion over a slow, techy moombah beat. Next up is "Mionyae" by No Joda, a beautifully deep tune featuring a trove of unearthed Yoruban ceremony samples, with additional production and mixdown from Sabo.
Coming in third is "Carnaval" by San Francisco's DJ Theory, one half of the Bay's infamous Tormenta Tropical party. Theory's tune is a straight Latin dancefloor bomb with Celia Cruz vibes over a bouncy beat with hard, earth shattering synth lines coming in to make this a peak-time anthem. Rounding out the package is "Tao Boa" by Greece's Hammond Classics, which draws techno inspiration from a Brazilian samba classic, wrapped up nicely in a Moombahton style!
