5 Years of SOLE Channel Music

Quality. Period. This is exactly what I had in mind when creating SOLE Channel with Mr.V. After working at Vinylmania records in NYC for about 4 years I had felt the quality of music record labels were putting out was deteriorating. Week in and week out record labels seemed to just be cranking tracks out. I vowed that if I ever started my label I would avoid this at all cost. Soon after leaving Vinylmania in 2004 I was given the opportunity to start a record label. Coming up with the name and giving it an identity was easy. I had began a party with V in the Lower East Side of Manhattan with V about two years prior. Our SOLE Channel nights were taking off and getting us recognition in NYC so coming up with the name SOLE Channel Music was a no brainer. We focused on creating the music we wanted versus the industry dictating what would be dope to us. Over the years we've developed our sounds on and off the label but saying what exactly our sound is, is tricky. The label encompasses so many different pieces of music. A wide range from Afrobeat, Soul, Techy stuff, dub and so on. You really have to look at the label as one whole body of work to determine what it is that we do. I just like to think of SOLE Channel as making quality music no matter what we do. This selection is a small glimpse into SOLE channel's body of work over the past years. Some of which you know and some others might not be familiar with. A huge thank you to everyone that has supported us over the past 5 years. And I still feel like we've just begun.
