You Know/Free Falling

Audio Soul Project

NRK
NRK069 | 2002-07-06
Those still unfamiliar to the Audio Soul Project name will no doubt have had their heads in the sand for the last 6 months. Since the release of the ASP 'Community' album in November 2001, the ambitious project of reconstructing the album, using a slew of remix names including François K & Rob Rives, Chris Lum, Joeski, Ricky Montanari, Tony Thomas and Nathan Larsen, has been undertaken. The response has been terrific, with each remixer taking to task the job of breathing different emotions & energies into Mazi Namvar's original recordings. Some would say we've left the best til' last..two dynamic UK producers lay down perhaps the most radically revamped mixes yet. Nice to see homegrown talent shining through, eh? Rob Mello, one of the UKs most underrated producers, has remixed 'You Know'. Rob's 'No Ears' mix is an outstanding electronic house mix that will appeal to those currently turned on by the analogue house movement. Rob Mello was one half of Disco Elements along with Zaki D; pioneers in the disco cut up tracks that surfaced in the early 90's on labels such as Azuli, and a sound that kick started the second wave of Chi-town producers shortly afterwards. Rob Mello has been busy in the studio of late, recording for labels such as City Rockers and Classic (Derrick Carter & Luke Solomon's revered deep house imprint) and his mix of Audio Soul is his first remix work for NRK.

The Jamie Anderson remix 'Freefalling', knocking out a killer chunky locked groove mix that is a real hypnotic grower and will appeal to those of the more tougher musical persuasion. Jamie has been DJing heavily the past few months, promoting his 'Blue Music' album from last year and the recent 'Rebel Sound' single, but has found time to remix this Audio Soul classic.
