Funk-Master Johnny Dangerous’ latest release takes listeners down unknown roads
Continuing on his already established reputation for individuality, FOREMOST POETS chieftain aka Funk-Master jOHNNYDANGEROUs aka Johnny Dangerous’ latest release takes listeners down unknown roads. “Problem 13” is as dark and spooky as dance music gets. Born in Philadelphia, he has been reshaping Dance, Funk and Hip-Hop into poetic motion through his ethereal acoustic interpretations and blends of future funk with the spoken word. Tracks like “Kill For a Day” and “War With the Devil” are a clear step away from traditional 4/4 house music and put listeners in various, altering moods. “The Magic” is a definite dance floor pumper, but, with an eerie accordion solo, still has a deep and dark side to it. We are also treated to two distinct remixes (one by Vega recording artist, Mr. V) of King Street classic and mega underground club hit, “Beat That Bitch.” In addition, the album has previously unreleased cuts like “Calling You Lord” with Kenny Bobien and remixed by Paris’ deep house impresario DJ Yass. Having spun records, produced, written and arranged for nearly 20 years, Dangerous possesses the experience, ingenuity and foresight to change the sound of music in the new millennium. Close your eyes, and allow Johnny to guide you through his nightmarish visions.
