British label InnerCity Records made a flying start to life last year, with their V/A releases going down a treat with a slew of the scene's prime movers and shakers. For their latest release, the Manchester based label does much the same again, as they compound their auspicious start to life courtesy of a four-tracker that's dripping in refined house-music textures.

Easing us in is the sounds of accomplished sounding newcomer Arun Varone, a man who makes sophisticated music that belies his relatively short stint in the game. ''Inside Of Me'' is a bassline-driven monster, the type of which intoxicates the listener thanks to its hypnotic sheen and its rich, spliced vocal contribution. Full of drama and suspense, it's a scrupulously produced number which will help the night slide at a frenetic pace.

Ibiza entrepreneur Jason Bye then reminds us of his own production nous on ''Ghetto Break'', a zippy number that's underpinned by a meticulous bassline and a series of sweltering, popping beats. It's sultry stuff that'll go down a storm in both Berlin and the Balearics.

The second half of the EP kicks off with David Moran's ''Keyboard Gangster'', an analogue jam that hits all the right notes thanks to its spellbinding snares and its delicately arranged percussion especially. The elongated synths play their part too, and Moran's is a name you're sure to hear much more of over the next few months. Last but not least is ''Freak'' from label owners the Horsey Brothers. Full of twinkling lo-fi sounds and a playful sample which you can't help but raise a smile to, it closes out the package with some grace, which the house army is sure to lap up.
