LOFT001

Ejeca & Citizen

LOFT Records
LOFT001 | 2013-07-22
Loft Records is a brand new, London-Based vinyl imprint and the label kicks off with a double header from Ejeca and Citizen, backed with remixes from Mic Newman and Nicholas.
Loft has, so far, no intention of dropping any further hints as to what the label plans are other than 'increasing cardiovascular activity' but it has tapped into some of the strongest names around with it's debut 12".
Opening this split 12" is Ejeca, the Belfast-based producer who in 2012 notched up releases for Aus, Future Classic, W&O Street Tracks and Future Classic as well as seeing support from people as diverse as Erol Alkan to Jackmaster for his bumping, robust house music. Here, his 'Rosario' track is a blissed-out, bass heavy cut which combines fluttering arpeggios, garage vox and epic piano chords to superb effect. Mic Newman, a producer with considerable pedigree himself, subtly reworks 'Rosario' into a mid-tempo houser which retains the original's impact while twisting it's parts into deeper territories.
Citzen is up next, and much like his recent work for MadTech and Love Fever, turns in a powerful and timelines deep house track that takes classic deep house tropes and mixes them with hints of the hardcore continuum.
Italian producer Nicholas continues his faultless run of work with one of his 'biggest' sounding mixes yet - a real, peak time affair reminiscent of Prescription at its most strident.
