The first release in 2014 comes as courtesy of a teenager that has already established himself in Skopje's underground scene as a prolific producer and a dj that has such a serious attitude about his sound and production, Alek Soltirov with his Warmup Toolz EP, a four tracker exploring the deeper and more minimalistic shades of house. Alek's discography spans on handful of labels like Full House Records, Home Again Records, Greenhouse Records, Artefact Records and he already has lined up releases for labels such as Doin' Work, Wellhung, Underluxe, Greenhouse, Home Again.
Warmup Toolz is a release that consists of four tracks, two originals that are more subtle and on the deeper side that should be used while warming up the dance floor or after that great and intense party and two remixes, the first one by Soulsupplement's head-honcho Bruno Browning who doesn't need any introduction and has so many releases under his belt, and the second one by Robert S a great producer and the owner of Round House Recordings, we are grateful to have them both involved on this release.
The first track Oxyd has a beautiful warm subtle drive and Alek's use of the deep chords mixed with some funky vocal snippets in such a proper way gives the track even greater and deeper feel.
Fake Thugz is the second track by Alek that as the first one has a deeper drive with beautiful minimalistic and deep chords mixed with some funky male spoken words that give the track a more underground feel and on top of all the funky old school bassline to complete the underground feel of it.
The third track is Bruno Browning's remix of Fake Thugz, and he treats us with his trademark minimalistic but so funky and jacking sound that always does the job for us.
Last but not least comes the remix by Robert S who gave us his view of Fake Thugz with the powerful rolling bassline funky chord manipulation along the filtered vocal snippets that enable this track to be used in more prime time situations on the dance floor, which we are certain it will be used by many of you.
All in all great package of some deep funky tracks to start the new year.
