This is the first time Raoul Records make an EP with one single original track and multiple
interpretations of it. When we listened to Dollar Mambo's track Am I Soul for the very first time, it instantly blew our mind as how much special, emotional and inspirational it sounded. An amazing piece of music: a rough diamond.
We decided, in collaboration with Dollar Mambo himself, to give this track the attention it deserved, giving this rough diamond several shapes and make a whole EP out of it.
The K-City Edit is Dollar Mambo's own reinterpretation: it is just as great and emotional as the original mix but transposed into a tighter frame, giving the track the structure of a club track without loosing any of its particular sound freedom. It's then rich of both grooves and melodies.
As a first remixer we have invited Gaspard de la Montagne, who just released his first EP on Creaked Records and whose track Pole has been acclaimed by many dj's and specialized medias around the world. Being fan of his former tracks we thought that Gaspard's work with subtile sound textures and dark basslines would give a intersting frame to Dollar Mambo's euphoria.
The result is that the rough diamond turned black, but it is still shining.
The third versions of the title track is coming from Gregorythme. His remix stays very close to the original material, focusing on its trippy side and adding Gregorythme's typical kind of evolutional synth patterns, as well as a more present beat to drive it. The result clearly witnesses how much Gregorythme loved the original and worked on its remix, as manipulating a very precious material.
