Russelology (Incl. Restless Soul Mixes)

NY012 | 2008-11-06
Hot new house remixes of killer broken beat track Flowriders Russelology. Includes two slamming mixes from UK house supremo Phil Asher (restless soul).

For the latest NYSoul Records release we have teamed up with one of the finest exponents of the broken beat / nu jazz sound - Flowriders.

Amsterdam's Flowriders released a stunning album on Mr Bongo Records last year, and it was a track from that album called Russelology that really got us excited. Russelology quickly became an anthem at the legendary London session Co-Op and was supported by the likes of Domu, IG Culture, Giles Peterson, Benji B, Simbad, Afronaught, Bugz In The Attic, etc.

For its NYSoul airing we have given Russelology the house treatment, calling in the talents of some of our favourite producers. First up is UK house supremo Phil Asher donning his restless soul guise. With hundreds of incredible productions and remixes to his name, this Soul Heaven resident of current ´Phlash and Friends´ fame, delivers his signature ´Phlash groove´ to create a remix that will keep the heads itching for more. A peaktime banger that is sure to be in the boxes of the most discerning tastemakers.

We have also invited back London's AphroDisiax for their second outing on NYSoul. With tracks forthcoming on Soul Heaven Records and a number of other highly respected labels, we are very excited to welcome them back. They have contributed two mixes to the package, both of them sure to heat up dancefloors in a hurry. Having teamed up with Kaidi Tatham of Bugz In The Attic fame on the keys, these mixes are for those people who like to get down...

Peng and Deep System's Bittersuite step up to the plate with their debut mix for the label - and boy did they nail it. Stripping it down and dubbing it up to deliver an underground deep house vibe. For those that like the Osunlade sound this mix is essential listening.

Completing the package we feature the debut mix of Tomson & Bendict. Tomson and Benedict are made up of up-and-coming Manchester based deep house producer Ben Harper and Tom Lynch, resident and promoter of one of the UK's best known underground club night's DEVELOPMENT. Benedict has recently had his fantastic debut single 'Hit Shorts' release on Camio Recordings and is working on a stream of original productions, while Tom is also currently finishing some of his own original tracks and edits for the soon-to-be-launched Development Music imprint. There hypnotic groove is a stripped down joint full of spacey electronic rhythms.
