When I first heard Martha Wash singing Black Box’s "Everybody Everybody" - I thought 2 things:
1. Instant classic.
2. I need to write something like that! And write I did. That’s how "Give It Ya You" was born. I had loved Martha Wash since Sylvester's 1978 smash - "Dance (Disco Heat)", and I just KNEW I could write something authentic for her. Thank God she and her manager Doug Kibble (R.I.P.) agreed and took all 4 of my submissions for her 1992 RCA Records debut. "Give It to You" was my first number 1 (anything) on Billboard’s Dance Chart and I’m super excited about these newly reproduced versions on Quantize. I hope you enjoy this single as much as I do.
