Distorted Symmetry EP

BareSkin

Hypercolour
HYPEDIGI035 | 2013-12-02
Having already made a splash on Hypercolour and Losing Suki back in 2012 (‘Eyes’ EP and ‘Flow Control’ EP respectively), Bareskin makes a return to the roost in November with a sure fire packet of three.

Lead track ‘Distorted Symmetry’ is a deadly slab of pacey and techy house, its vocal bringing in a decent amount of soul to the proceedings. A proper modern day house record, the production is first class, its reverberating and glitchy beats working a treat amongst the deep melody.‘The Shape Of It’ comes deeper than a wizards sleeve, a twisted vocal hook held up with fat pads left, right and center, the minimal beats almost lending a pure ambient vibe to this one. Bareskin AKA Josh Thompson, signs off with the cosmically titled ‘I Was Born To A Woman From Space’, a meaty beatfest, evoking shades of Mood II Swing at their dubbiest, with some extra terrestrial flutterings and deft keys holding up another cracking female vox line, defo one for the erection section.
