We’re proud to present Volume 07 of our ongoing compilation series, Selville Selects—this time curated by The Deep House Space, a name synonymous with championing South Africa’s deep house underground. As always, the compilation brings together emerging talents pushing the genre forward with fresh, homegrown perspective.
Opening the track is “Peaceful Soul” by Lawley’s own Newlexim (real name Nhlanhla Nkosi), alongside Vokzman from The Deep House Space. It’s a track soaked in that unmistakable South African deep house feel—soulful synth steps, a rolling lead, and a minimal, steady bassline that makes it both meditative and club-ready.
Up next is “Journey to Moz” by the incredibly talented Sambo Sq, another standout from Lawley. This track leans into minimal deep house, layering warm Rhodes chords, a strumming guitar lead, and subtle horns. It’s emotional, textured, and grooves with a tempo that’s hard not to nod along to.
Then comes a nostalgic moment from Mpumalanga’s Chambers, titled “Grandma’s Couch.” Reminiscent of Osunlade’s Mama’s Groove, it’s a deep, percussive journey filled with warmth and memory, built for the dancefloor but rooted in storytelling. A sermon skit in the background adds an extra layer of soul and heritage to this heartfelt tribute.
Closing the compilation is Supreme H from Tsakane in the East Rand, delivering “Transgression,” a snare-driven, high-energy deep house track. It rides on a strumming bassline and smooth Rhodes chords, with airy, atmospheric textures that round out the compilation with a perfect balance of power and elegance.
Selville Selects Vol. 07 is a snapshot of the scene—personal, rhythmic, and deeply South African. Curated with care by The Deep House Space, this chapter highlights the subtlety, storytelling, and innovation that continues to shape our house music community.
