Øyvind Morken is back on Snick Snack with a fantastic new EP of analog mischief. Over the years Øyvind has developed his own unique take on the dance formula, turning inspiration from the innocent and musically open days of the early and mid-nineties into something very singular. Take the best of Bleep techno, Fragile Records, Kenny Larkin’s early productions, The Black Dog and the mother ship, Detroit techno. Mix it with a solid dose of the here and now, and you start to reach something that resembles Morken’s sound.

Tittle track “Abstrakt Dans” is maybe the most direct of the lot. With its driving bass line, raw bleeps and quelches, it’s a sure dancefloor smash. Followed up by Rude Photo, a nod to techno originator Derrick May’s classic Nude Photo, is a deep and driving techno journey with odd twist and turns and a long and slinky bass line, which never loses its sight of the dancefloor. Rounding of the EP is Keep on Smiling, for those deep E-moments when time ceases to exist. A true “tour de force” from one of Oslo’s finest DJ’s and producers.

Oslo`s Øyvind Morken (pronounced Oy-vind) has a unique ability to play everything from A to Z of what genres concern. Working the dance floor in the most unexpected ways. One of the original residents at club Jaeger since its opening date in 2011. Often drawing in a crowd of open-minded party freaks for nights of wild abandon, and where musical diversity and self-expression is encouraged. Gigs also appeared all over Europe and in Asia. And there are productions taking up catalog space on such diverse labels as Moonlighting, Full Pupp, Mysticisms, Snick Snack and Gravity Graffiti. There was also Road Trippin, a cassette mixtape on L.I.E.S. Records.
