Those who know Detroit know Funk and Soul, House and Techno and if you know that music well you know the names Mike Agent X Clark and Paul Hill. Mike is like the ambassador to Detroit's Underground music scene, he's been doing this since the 80's with roots connected to The Electrifying Mojo and Underground Resistance, Paul Hill is Parliament-Funkadelic straight up and down, not to mention his collaboration with Moodymann's Mahogani Music and beyond. Ok so, we've released Mike's track "Where You Get Your Funk From?" on the EFUNK, Detroit Volume III compilation that came out for our 10 year anniversary at TV lounge for the House Of EFUNK afterparty for Movement Fest weekend and Mike is DJing and Paul jumps on the mic and they perform this record I Don't Know Why… The place ignites and we immediately knew this was something special and we are proud to present this to all of you! It brings together Paul's skillful Motown soul vocals with Mike's classic house production expertise. The "6 Mile West Side Mix" is a soulful house version with warm keyboards, beautiful string arrangements and an orchestra of soul claps. Oliver Dollar strips back the original track by bringing Paul Hill's vocal hook forward and replacing Mike's church syncopations with a four-on-the-floor beat awash in moody chord changes. "Paul Hill's Version" is a showcase for his signature vocals where listeners can get acquainted with his unforgettable singing style.
