El Chiringuito, the creation of Olivia and Jonathan has , over the last five years, become part of the establishment of quality 'must visit' venues on the glamorous isle. Situated on the shores of the Mediterranean at Es Cavallet Beach, El Chiringuito prides itself on the quality of its food, drinks and above all vibe. Groove Armada and The Doncaster Youth Jazz Association
Groove Armada need little in the way of introduction. Since their explosion on to the scene in 1996 with the seminal track At The River, they have gone on to release 7 albums, notching up 3 gold discs and 3 Grammy nominations in the process. The GA live show headlined festivals around the world and played the longest run of sold-out nights at Brixton Academy before they retired the band in 2010. Their vision for a London festival became London's biggest , with Lovebox now into its 11th year. But against this success, Andy and Tom have always been rooted to the free party and warehouse underground where it all started. There have been long running residencies at NY's Tunnel, Fabric, Sankeys, the Space Terrace (this is their 12th year), plus nearly 2 decades of nights in most of the world's best DJ booths. Less well known are the dozens of free parties on hills and beaches wherever and whenever they can get away with it. Throwing up a sound system and spreading the love is what defined dance music for them; the Chiringuito sessions are a part of the GA free parties that try and keep the spirit alive. This CD is an extract from one of those famous Chiringuito beach parties, full of unreleased GA material and reedits. Turn it up."
"Groove Armada are dedicating the proceeds of London and Ibiza parties to The Doncaster Youth Jazz Association. This remarkable organisation is the vision of one man and responsible for the life changing musical education of thousands of youngsters since it was founded in 1973.Through music and jazz education , the young musicians leave with a sense of self and a feeling of community. Many of them go on to become some of the UK's finest. In the words of John Ellis, the founder, "There is something magical about the way in which a group of young people can be brought together with a common purpose and it never ceases to amaze as to how much they can accomplish when, with single-minded dedication, they apply themselves to projects set before them." It's a charity that is close to Andy's heart. Like hundreds of others, it was this association that put an instrument in his hand and taught him to play. But now, with all government funding cut, it's only through endless fundraising that the DYJA can stay alive and bring it's magic to the next generations of youngsters. This CD is part of the ongoing GA efforts to help out.
