Fresh from collaborating live on stage with Moodymann in LA, and performing live soundtrack projects with Mahina-Ina Kingi-Kaui in NZ and Japan, electronic jazz pioneer Mark de Clive-Lowe is back with a new installment of his Midnight Snacks instrumental EP series. Volumes 1-3 (and the remixes 12") bridged the worlds of broken beat, house and downtempo in classic MdCL fashion. Now, volume 4 extends the program with a thick blend of floating piano and synths giving way to broken beats, and a closer that holds in that floating space without the interruption of rhythm or drums…

Myōken ("The North Star") evolves from opening synths and pianos into a cosmic broken beat romp complete with an organ melody nodding to the great Fela Kuti. Mantra sees MdCL channeling his love for the likes of George Duke over a 3/4 uptempo bruk groove with relentless synths repeating the musical mantra over and over while pushing further and further into outer space. The EP's finale Taiyō no Soyokaze ("Breeze of the Sun") is an intimate, lush sonic celebration of joy and gratitude for each and every new day…
