In 2011, our sister label, Reel People Music, released "Found My Light", a single by one of the UK's most treasured voices, Imaani.
Originally remixed by The Layabouts, "Found My Light" tells a heartfelt story about the joy and fulfilment that motherhood has brought to Imaani's life.
A decade later, in 2022, our dear friend Atjazz applied his undeniable talents to work on a stunning remix of "Found My Light". More recently, while working on the next edition of the Deep Rooted series (a Foliage Records compilation), he sought to craft something truly unique once again. We are now thrilled to present "Found My Light" (Atjazz Galaxy Aart Remixes).
Originally from Derby, Imaani has spent most of her life in London, where she has crafted a remarkable musical journey. Introduced to the music world by the legendary Jocelyn Brown, who nurtured the seeds of her talent, Imaani has never looked back!
Her career has flourished through her strong connection with the UK's most celebrated Jazz Funk band, Incognito. She has recorded on several of their albums, including "Eleven", "Beneath The Surface", "Adventures in Black Sunshine", "Bees & Things & Flowers", "Tales from the Beach", "Incognito 30th Anniversary Live" and "Surreal". Over the course of her longstanding relationship with Incognito, Imaani has completed multiple world tours and continues to perform live with the band.
Significant other recording partnerships have come with our very own Reel People ("Amazing" feat. Tony Momrelle), whilst moving into the house arena, firstly with Defected Records artist Copyright ("Wizeman" / "Nobody") and latterly with The Layabouts ("Fearless" / "Too Late") on the Future Retro album and then on Foliage with "Shine" & "Stay".
From his early days skateboarding through the small towns of Northeast England to managing a successful independent record label, Martin "Atjazz" Iveson has journeyed through producing and remixing for a diverse range of global talent. He has become synonymous with top-tier style, production, and innovation in the independent music scene.
Fans recognize that the Atjazz sound is profoundly personal, with each track he produces or remixes reflecting a piece of himself.
