A new artistic pairing to celebrate their Meanwhile Horizons debut, Mattim and Meeting Molly combine to create the "Mosaic / Wind Whistle" EP.
Seasoned producers with a raft of releases to their names, Córdoba-based Mattim, has been a regular on such esteemed imprints as Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo and Juicebox Music with support from Nick Warren, Guy J and Alex O'Rion. Performances across his homeland has also seen the Argentinean equally at home behind the decks as he is in the studio. Similarly, Meeting Molly has found a home on the best-selling Mango Alley as well as Monstercat, Black Hole and Roger Martinez's Higher States. Support for his unique progressive sound has found favour with such A-listers as Gabriel and Dresden, Khen and Jaytech.
After November 2022's "Iceland" release, Meeting Molly now joins forces with label debutant, Mattim, as the duo deliver a powerful sonic statement on the GMJ and Matter-owned imprint.
Opener, "Mosaic" is characterised by a popping percussive line and light melodic touch before a heavy beat and rich sub-bass add gravitas. Smooth pads and delicately cadenced synth stabs add to the aural collage as it flows towards a haunting breakdown, redolent in additional melodies. Evolving towards its zenith with white-noise effects, the track picks up the rhythmic prowess of early phrases as it enters the second half with sumptuous pads adding a relaxed and meditative air.
Continuing the strong rhythmic narrative and subtle melodic weight of its counterpart, "Wind Whistle" evolves easily across its near 8-minute timeframe. Counterpoint melodies sit atop each other in easy free-flowing patterns through a delay-infused lead line and textured pads that come to the fore at the mid-point. Simultaneously, a cadenced motif provides a deep dancefloor vibrancy that extends across the top, heralding the rolling percussion and heavy beat that drives through the third movement.
Perfectly placed to create a magical picture from a panoply of sonic patterns, Mattim and Meeting Molly have painted a vivid diptych in "Mosaic / Wind Whistle".
