Continuing to add new talent to their roster, D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music welcomes Muza (RU) to the label for her debut EP. Hailing from Russia, Julia Knyazeva aka Muza is an emerging DJ, singer and producer with a distinctive melodic house and techno style. With a keen sense for the dancefloor, Muza has already compiled an impressive resume since her first release just over a year ago. Releases via 16om, Plombir Music, Row Records and Suprematic highlight her discography as she continues to maneuver herself through the trendsetting confines of electronic music. Now, following the summer release of her chart topping ‘Crazy State' EP, Muza adds SLC-6 Music to her resume with ‘Dance Sensor', alongside a remix from Hatewax and Digital Mess.
The title selection leads the release off and showcases Muza's prophetic sound design and strong dancefloor dynamics. A dark, muscular low end sets the foundation for pyrotechnic stabs and sci-fi vocal samples to paint a paranoid path into the break. Further modulation and clustered tones highlight the interlude, building drama and anticipation onwards to a sinister finale. The companion piece ‘Ice Scream' follows suit and complements its predecessor very well with a rippling groove, squelchy synth mutations and a series of timely builds to keep the dancefloor locked. The release concludes with Russian duo Hatewax and Digital Mess providing the lone interpretation of ‘Dance Sensor'. Armed with a diverse discography highlighted by releases via Mango Alley, Planet Rhythm, SCI+TEC and Univack, the Russian duo provide a deeper, more introspective take on the track, one which maintains its menacing design qualities against a groovier framework.
