Get Up Recordings’ next release is from Rhythm Phazer, with “I Know That UR A Freak”. Rhythm Phazer is not new to the label, they did a remix for the The Carry Nation's “Baby Baby” release. A full package of remixes from the prolific DJs/producers, Boys' Shorts, percussionist/producer Joy Joseph and NYC DJ/ producer and label co-owner, Christy Love.
Rhythm Phazer is comprised of New York based - Heidy P - and forever nomadic - Vandi. The two have been making and performing music together since 2015. Their tenure has spanned most of the world but their sound is firmly rooted in US house and techno. Their release here is a prime example of that House and Techno influence. “I Know That UR A Freak” sounds like 80's Detroit with its smooth bass, driving beats, piano riffs and lush and sexy vocal.
First up on the remixes is Boys' Shorts, a Greek dj/production duo, consisting of Vangelis (formerly of LAGASTA) and electronic artist, Tareq. Their sound is a blend of everything they love to mix in their DJ sets - from House to slow techno and acid. With releases on labels like HE.SHE.THEY, Cormac’s Polari Records, Permanent Vacation, Live at Robert Johnson, Love Child and remixes for Alison Goldfrapp, Poolside, Joe Goddard, Kasper Bjorke, Woolfy, and Boy George, their remix for Get Up is serious business. Using their now signature sound keeping their remix tight and driving!
The second remix on the release comes from UK DJ/producer, KwéyòlKidz (aka, Joy Joseph). Joy began as a live percussionist, on the London club scene, as a drummer/composer as one fourth of dark pop band, Black Gold Buffalo, which had its roots in the East London’s New Wave movement. Her career has included touring globally with artists like Jay Z, Amy Winehouse, Groove Armada, Calvin Harris, The Police, Erykah Badu, Duke Dumont, and Jessie Ware. She also has recently released on Houseology and Major Records. Her remix is a beautiful, hypnotic trance-like percussive dream.
Rounding out the remixes is Christy Love. As a DJ and producer she has always had a love for music and has been immersed in the NYC house music scene for more than 2 decades. She is also the co-owner of the Get Up label. She has returned to her mesmerizing signature sound in her interpretation of the remix. She introduces the remix in dramatic fashion by dropping in beats which culminates into a true House dancefloor mover and shaker.
