The Edo Messengers...
By Sheyi Olagunju
.. a rendition to momentous events during the 15th century in The fabled Edo Kingdom in South western Nigeria.
The portuguese have just landed the ford up the Niger delta, and The Royal messengers are at court reporting to Oba Ewuare, their king and thus the whole Bini empire.
It is well renowned throughout the sub-saharan african continent that our sounds, discourse and indeed rhythms are passed through verbatim and intact throughout our generations.
For this dance-floor track, We hope that our depiction of narrative captures the exact dialogue in the King's palace that very evening, so many years ago.

and Papy-K
Our elders say, omomo nor ho na mie iyen, o rio obo e gho odukhum! A small child that wants to be carried up by an adult, will express his/her intention, by raising their hands......We are raising our hands, from the Royal Edo Empire, Africa!
