New Jack City may lead our imagination through the NY city gang wars shown on the 1991 movie with the same name but in fact we are talking about the collaboration between two brothers born and raised in Arnhem, The Netherlands. New Jack City are enthusiasts of the 90's garage vibe since an early age but the beginning of 2011 was the starting point that brought us the New Jack City sound. A happy meal where Jackin' House beats are served with round and powerful basslines, happy synth chords and strong soulful voice samples. With releases on Music Is Love Records (UK) and Clean House (USA) we felt it was the right time for a release with Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! (NL). Three powerful tracks where a clean modern sound merges with the old school vibe from the 90's. For the twist we asked Washerman to remix "I Don't Wanna" and he fully delivered adding some sweet chords and his own sound processing thus increasing the soulful vibe of the original track. We feel confident about this record and are very proud of the result, first released as a limited special edition beautiful green 12" vinyl and as a digital download release ready for the Summertime. "You Got It" is the right track to be played in every warm up, the sweet chords lead us through a thumping bass hooking up our attention with voice and sax riffs until we reach the beautiful atmospheric moment before the drop where a nice solo takes us back to the jazzy cadence reminiscent of the French touch from records like Tourist by St. German. "No Matter What" puts lots of energy onto the dance floor with a growing snare roll filled with nice full leading vocals, after it drops, the round sub bass gives the right amount of hotness to make your body shake with a good sound system. "I Don't Wanna" is the perfect example when we say that New Jack City preserves the old vibe but in some way add some modern and fresh sound with lots of sub frequencies, once again the soulful vibe of the vocals bring us an energetic and happy feeling when it drops, without any doubt this is a weapon to increase the euphoria in the club. If the original is all about power, Washerman brings us a more adult version with his remix for "I Don't Wanna", adding some keys and synth chords he turns the verse into something really musical and sophisticated. The bass and the chopped vocals keeps the happy feeling of the original track. This is the perfect remix to close this great EP by New Jack City.
