An artist who has been championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova, Mr. Scruff and Benji B, Atmos Blaq’s latest release follows ‘Mfani Wana Dobsi’ on Stay True Sounds, plus his remix of Fish Go Deep’s ‘Cure & The Cause’ on Defected. ‘Skhaftin Saka Fonque’ translates to ‘Kid Fonque’s lunchbox’, written during Atmos Blaq’s visit to the UK as he spent time with label boss Kid Fonque at Defected HQ; as the SA producer’s trademark synthwork comes to the fore, percussive polyrhythms build and disperse in ecstasy to leave a lasting impression.
