Tash's Movement Recordings continues a strong spring season by welcoming Pammin to the label for his debut EP. With a career that spans well over a decade, German artist Pammin has crafted a consistent stream of quality releases since first emerging in 2013 via Toolroom. Moving forward the Berlin resident would continue to develop his sound with more of a progressive and melodic approach, in turn choosing his projects wisely, adding Freegrant Music, Future Romance, Mango Alley and UV Noir to his discography. Now, fresh off a remix for Brise Records to begin the year, Pammin adds Movement Recordings to his resume with ‘Strobe', alongside a remix from Moogish and Locate (IN).
Beginning with ‘Strobe' Pammin continues to showcase his progressive dancefloor approach. Fluid and energetic throughout, it's a framework of punchy kick drums and rippling basslines which lay the foundation for pulsating rhythms and ethereal synth flairs. Drama and tension flow leading into the main break, where Pammin flexes his creative muscles, crafting a steady build which eventually reveals a finale of astral sonics that's perfect for those peaktime moments. The companion piece 'Perma' showcases Pammin's progressive sound further but with greater melodic qualities. Clocking in at a concise six minutes in length, the Berlin resident's storytelling ability shines once again, as he delivers an uplifting journey complete with club-effective grooves, processed vocal gates and a gorgeous finale; one where emotive chord changes and shapeshifting synth mutations unite in a clever coax of colour and texture.
The lone interpretation of ‘Strobe' is provided by Moogish and Locate (IN) who present their first ever collaboration. Hailing from India, Moogish has been a fixture of the progressive house community for the better part of a decade. Armed with a nostalgic take on the genre, Moogish would go on to compile an impressive resume following a 2018 debut, with releases via Althea Records and Ballroom highlighting his discography. Also finding a home on Movement Recordings, the Pune resident would make his label debut in 2023 with a contribution to the popular ‘ProgNoesis, Vol. 4' collection. Now returning alongside newcomer and fellow countryman Locate (IN), the duo present their debut collaborative effort, taking ‘Strobe' into peaktime territory. Bringing a progressive state of mind, the duo carefully balances the themes from the original with their own nostalgic sound. Timely effects, clusters of clattering percussion and deconstructed sonics steal the air atop thunderous beats and rippling grooves; while an ominous break seals what is a great collaborative debut from Moogish and Locate (IN) to round out the release on a strong note.
