From Chicago With Love 2023

Various Artists

Vested Recordings
VEST027 | 2024-01-12
This 27th label release offers seven wonderful and carefully-chosen selections of melodic electronic grooves, ranging from breakbeats to progressive house to melodic techno to deep house, produced by a handful of the Windy City's finest newcomers to Vested Recordings. Music has continued in proving to be the fabric keeping us united in the face of uncertainty, and we're genuinely proud to showcase some truly top-tier work from some of our chosen family here in our home city. To all of you the world over, from us in Chicago – with love.

First up - Chicago veteran artist, DJ, producer, and king of the Windy City afterhours underground: Bucky Fargo brings you "Chakra In The 4th Phase"– a driving and super energetic techno composition that infuses melody and tribal ritualistic feel into a full-on storm of a song that allows you to connect to your inner creature. Bucky has been killing it this year with releases on Steyoyoke and Capital Heaven, and this song is truly a treat that will make you dance hard and feel like howling at the moon. And frankly, if it does make you feel like howling, maybe you should.

Second – "Hexes" by Dunes of Dawn is an absolute melodic techno bomb. Soaring lower-mid frequency range synthwork adorned with mystical bells and pounding drums will enchant you in a most incredibly-feeling way. Dunes of Dawn consists of two musical warlocks: Tanner and Yianni, who are recently making some serious waves of their own with a big release on Insomiac's Factory 93 Records and rocking dancefloors in support of artists like Agents of Time, Mind Against, Township Rebellion and more.

"Signals" is a beautifully-crafted piano-soaked progressive house composition by Chicago's newest South American artist import: Miguel Ante. A native of the country of Bolivia, Miguel has spent time not only in South America, but also living and studying in Spain to hone his musical craft, while managing to garner support of his music productions from big artists like Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Marco Carola and more. We're proud to call him a Chicago artist now.

Next, we have a heavenly-deep melodic progressive house groover titled "Astral" from new rising duo – Notamous. Together, Adam and Vejas have had a really impressive run of things in 2023 with a flurry of delightful record releases this calendar year, including having their work remixed Ten Walls, a prominent figure in this musical realm, and playing on many Chicago events that really "move the needle", so to speak. And with a new record label of their own coming in 2024, these two Lithuanians are showing no signs of taking their foot off the gas pedal anytime soon.

"Juma" from Chicago-residing Russian artist Bulat is a melodic progressive breakbeat dazzler of a party jam, injecting neon light melodies and a swaggy percussion arrangement into your ears. An embodiment of his Burning Man experiences can be heard in this track, taking you on a lovely journey inward when you press play. He's been crushing it here with performances alongside Armen Miran, Korolova, The Organism, Behrouz, Einmusik and more… This guy is definitely doing his part in keeping the vibe alive.

"Projecting the Past" by JRynecki is an absolutely delightful deep house cut with an infectious breakbeat UK 2-step percussion groove swing that just blankets you in the most warm soft fuzzy furry feeling-great sonic sensation. It recently won itself an exclusive one-of-a-kind vinyl pressing at this year's ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) after a listening panel deemed it the winner out of all the entries they auditioned. Not bad for a first-ever release for this Revive community leader and exceptional human, eh? In a world full of distractions, giving someone the space to outsmart their smartphone is the best gift this world traveler would love to give you all.

And last, but certainly not least, we have a simply stunning super deep house cut entitled "Rewind" from newcomer and Windy City native: Will Daley. This bedroom producer has had a musically-rich upbringing, growing up immersed in the sounds of classical artists like Beethoven or Rachmaninoff, and playing a variety of musical instruments like cello, trumpet and piano. He's been in bands and has taken notes from a really delightful assortment of prominent musical artists in a vast variety of musical genres. He's truly just enjoyed making noise all his life, potentially to the detriment of those around him. And he straight-up crushed it on this one right here.

Press play, turn the volume up loud. This is coming to you from Chicago – the birthplace of house music – to all of you all over this beautiful planet… with so much love. Be good to each other out there. Peace.
