Philip Auster & Bumppo return to Casomat with the charmingly atmospheric Kurapika EP. No strangers to the label, you may be familiar with their track 'Desiderio' which featured on the various artists Multitudes Vol. 1 released on Casomat late last year. This time they're back with a full EP, consisting of two originals together with remixes by West & Hill and label boss Schtu.

With their original tracks - 'Kurapika' and 'Overwhelming Emotion' - the Italian duo proves once again that if done correctly, a piece of music doesn't need a lot of different elements to keep one captivated for the full 6+ minutes. Sound design and arrangement are key, and if the main parts are perfect then giving them room to breathe is often the right strategy. It's certainly an artform, but it's clearly one that Philip Auster & Bumppo have perfected.

On remix duties for 'Kurapika' is Dutch DJ & producer West & Hill. Having released on esteemed labels such as Get Physical, Kindisch and Akbal, his productions are clearly in high demand and taking a listen to his remix it's easy to see why. Delicate synthwork, emotive progressions, clever arrangement - he checks all the boxes of what makes us love this kind of electronic music.

Finally, label boss Schtu provides a remix of 'Overwhelming Emotion'. While the original is sparse and minimal, Schtu adds a driving beat and a groovy bassline and creates a version perhaps more tailored to the peak-time dancefloor hours, providing a completely different vibe but without losing touch of the elements which make the original so special.
