Awa-KLaSH is a collaboration between KLaSH Productions (Simon Haggis & Kevin Long), and the Awa-Band (led by Samuel Kayode & Nigerian vocalist, Larry Azuka). Simon Haggis is best known for his long-running "WhistleBump" night in central London, and his involvement with the UK label STRUT. The Awa-Band is an Afro-Latin funk band, probably best known for their world wide hit "Timba", released in 2000 on Defected.
Samuel Kayode first met vocalist Larry Azuka while travelling in Nigeria. Together, they wrote the song "Akoba" and KLaSH Productions, after liking what they heard, went onto produce the track with a dancefloor world-beat flavor.
