Producer Jared Jones has brought together members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies to record 'Free To Be', a cover of the 1995 RuPaul pride anthem, to raise awareness and stand up to anti-drag legislation. 100% of proceeds from this single will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union Drag Defence Fund.
The project is an inspiring example of how members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community that include RuPaul's Drag Race alumni Alaska, Latrice Royale, Pandora Boxx, Peppermint, Derrick Berry, Thorgy Thor, Acid Betty, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Honey Mahogany, and Kelly Mantle are coming together to bring attention to this critical civil rights issue. They are joined by 'Hey Queen' host Jonny McGovern, gay producer/vocalist Adam Joseph, drag legends Coco Peru and Kevin Aviance, Sylvester backing vocalist Jeanie Tracy, trans artivist Mila Jam, and a host of other singers, entertainers, and artists. By combining their voices with those who lack representation in mainstream media and raising public awareness of discriminatory legislation against drag performers and other members of the LGBTQIA+ community, they are emphasizing the importance of protecting queer rights.
The EP features remixes from Brian Cua, Matt Moss, and Joel Dickinson
