CIARKI is a podcast and mix series launched in 2019 by two bass aficionados residing in Edinburgh. It was their Polish roots that led them to create a platform that connects artists from their homeland with like-minded people around the world who enjoy a broadly defined UK sound.
They then formed a record label and released two compilations featuring upcoming and established Polish producers. Previous releases embraced an eclectic face of the bass-driven scene in Poland. As they launch their third instalment, the main focus will be on the recently resurrected UK GARAGE (or PL GARAGE in this case).
The PLG compilation features 11 tracks delivered by artists from a variety of musical backgrounds, united in creating the country's first-ever 2-step shakedown. The opening track from Hidd3n and BSVN establishes the album's foundation with soft reece bass and female vocal samples.
Another dreamer comes from Vanatoski, laced with pleasant stabs and a modern take on the genre.
Under the alias Misza, well-known Polish rapper Miły ATZ delivers a simple yet gritty riddim called Halkidiki. Furthermore, Misza’s brothers-in-arms- WAVY. are coming up strong with a dancefloor-friendly broken bassline jam. With another solid tune that veers into the deeper side of PLG, TVB returns to the label. If we're talking bangers, then young blood of Some Guest and faron delivered one for sure. Holoe is another returner to CIARKI’s family and he does not disappoint with this ghetto-infused stomper. A Slavic folk and wobbles is a combination many did not expect from the Polish rising talent dadan karambolo. Next is a fun and sunny gem that spreads across a wide range of genres from one of the country's longest-running UKG propagators, CJ Reign. Hints of drum’n’bass and speed garage are incorporated into the atmospheric track called Temperatura by Negativ. Last but not least, Prock wraps things up by embracing housey piano stabs and uplifting vocals in his self-explanatory track named Joyful Swing.
CIARKI continues the label’s design legacy by placing Polish cartoon characters from their childhood on album covers. This time each character represents a single artist from the compilation.
