When I first heard 1-Step, 2-Step by Kashmir as the last cut on the 'Black EP' double-vinyl pack on Dis-funktional way back in 2001, I fell head over heels in love with it & I've been on the search for the original sample to no avail. It's arguably my fav sample loop of all time, or at least one of them. Only in 2023 did I happen to finally stumble across it. While it would no doubt be tough to best the original, with it's mad energy jacked beats (that still hold strong today), it's string stabs & of course the greatness of the gospel loop, I felt like I could add some things to it that imo, would take it up a notch or two & give it a nice twist. I've always said, don't remix something unless you are sure you can improve it & effectively create a new idea/concept. In this case, as great as the original was, I think I took it up a few 'STEPS'! And that's the gospel truth! Get To Steppin' & GET JUICED!!!
