Eskimo Twins: Apikoros EP - The Remixes (WILD 014)¶When we started working with the Eskimo Twins not only we got to release their brilliant EP Apikoros but we also had the chance to get some great producers involved for this remix EP I'm presenting you today.¶Remixes are always exciting and interesing, and we take great care in trying to pair the right people and music together, trying to bring producers from different "sounds" together to get surprising results.¶And we have made no exception here with producers and Djs we love and respect on remix duty to corrupt, manipulate and transform the Eskimo Twins' tracks.¶First we find French rising star of dark techno Tomas More.¶Fresh from his EP on Kill The DJ, Tomas delivers his remix of title track Apikoros as a ill, dark, industrial tinted and seriously deranged slice of techno.¶Flirting with minimal sounds and atmosphere but with a strong drive and groove, his remix displays a slightly perverted and twisted sexual tension, buried in whispers and reverb. To be played late…¶Next, Bozzwell takes on Ariam with his French discotheque mix. I suppose we don't really need to introduce the man behind HiEM and so many great records on Kompakt, Crosstown Rebels and Eskimo and many more.¶It looks like the Sheffield lad was in a disco kind of mood on this one, boasting a great, catchy synth riff that could be straight off an italo record (definitely not a french one!), his remix has real warmth and soul thanks to the analog old school sound and mix and the use of Mr Bozzwell voice in a slightly sleazy way (hence the French then I suppose)¶The third remix finds two serious contender for producers of the year. After two kick ass EP on I'm a Cliché, Red Axes (Tel-Aviv's duo Dori Sadovnik and Niv Azri) dazzle us with some seriously strong production. With live recordings of electric bass, guitar and drums, their take on Akashic is an amazing clash of hypnotic disco bass, house beats, crazy drum fills and rock guitar. Proto kraut discoid techno, I don't know how you define this…¶They were on their way to Japan when they did the remix, so not sure how they pulled that one off… I can imagine some seriously pissed off people on their plane.¶Lastly we find… me. I won't say much cause I hate to talk about my stuff and usually by the time I've finished it I don't even know how I did it or if I even like it. In any case, Nath and Tim asked me for a remix while I was working on a new project I have named Hotel International. That project is kind of a nostalgic, dreamy, shoe gaze take on dance music and is very pop… My idea was to make it sounds like it was played by an electro pop band in 1989… Around New Order Technique and My Bloody Valentine Loveless...Maybe you can tell me if it's a success?¶Hope you will enjoy this great EP!
