Pinkturban is excited to announce the release of 'Puria EP,' a two-track project from sitar-electronic music fusion artist Evan Hatfield. Hot off the back of his viral sitar videos, Evan has been tearing up dancefloors worldwide at festivals such as Lucidity and Lightning in a Bottle and even performing for the King of Bahrain!
'Puria EP' is a unique blend of organic house grooves and live Eastern instrumentation. The title track, 'Puria,' features vocals by Bangladeshi-born singer Arzeen, inspired by the Bengali phrase 'Ananda Utsav,' meaning 'festival of joy.' Arzeen's mysterious and emotive vocals are complemented by bouncy synths, driving tabla rhythms, and heavily-swung drums.
On the flip side, 'Underneath' seamlessly weaves Evan's production skills with the talents of musicians Danny Shamoun on the Turkish Ney and Jivan Gasparyan Jr. on the Armenian Duduk. This melodically rich and emotionally-charged track represents a powerful musical unity.
