Buenos Aires based DJ and producer Marcos Calegari debuts on Piston Recordings with the sublime ‘Afternoon Lights’. Marcos started his musical journey in bands, but soon he found himself intrigued by the sounds of House Music and all it’s variants. He’s played many clubs around BA as well as several gigs further afield in Spain and Uruguay. He brings a fresh approach with his sound, changing atmospheres with powerful drums while transitioning the many facets of House. Great to have him here at Piston.

The Original Mix opens the release with an intro that boasts a distinct minimal vibe which captures the imagination. Punchy beats lead the way as soft percussive instruments lay down smooth rhythms. Melancholic notes are joined by a subby bassline as mesmerizing pads fill the spectrum. Delicate melodies come through in a subtle way which adds to the character of the groove. Marcos fellow countryman GUTZ (AR) marks his Piston debut with a solid remix. A relatively new name on the scene, GUTZ has been churning out some quality vibes on SouthTech Music and Offside Records, great to have him on board. On the remix here, GUTZ delves into a deeper tech fuelled groove. Nice and chunky beats are joined by flurries of percussions that add a rhythmic quality to the groove. Mesmerizing pads float in the background as a plucky bassline drives the groove to the backdrop of sporadic sounds and short vocal snippets. Nice and groovy for the dancefloor.
